Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music, Hong Kong Baptist University
Jennifer graduated from the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Music at Hong Kong Baptist University in 2017, she majored in composition and her major instrument is cello. Jennifer plays both piano and cello. As an active instrumentalist, she played in various ensembles. She was the principal cello of Hong Kong Baptist University String Ensemble, cellist of Hong Kong Baptist University Symphony Orchestra. She has studied cello under the tutelage of Ms. Fang Xiaomu, Mr. Cheung Ming Yuen and Mr. Joe Chan.
Jennifer developed great interest in classical music during her years at Sacred Heart Canossian College and started composition and improvisation. The scale of her work includes choral, chamber, piano and electroacoustic works. Young studied with Prof. Christopher Keyes, Dr. Christopher Coleman, Dr. Joyce Tang, Prof. Mike McFerron and Dr. Matthew Schreibeis.
Jennifer is also an enthusiastic chorister, she performed in Hong Kong and overseas including Sweden, England, Germany, Austria, Japan and China. As a passionate chorister, she participated in two Hong Kong Arts Festival production in 2016 including the Hong Kong Odyssey, a multimedia commissioned work lead by local composers. Also a co-production with the San Francisco Opera, Dream of the Red Chamber written by Bright Sheng. These experiences singing new works and meeting living composers give inspiration to her composition.
Jennifer has been teaching for more than 7 years, she focuses on basic skills building and musicianship training of students at any age.
