Biography

Oscar Lui is currently a final year student at Hong Kong Baptist University. In his secondary school years, Lui has been taught by clarinetist Richard Fong, and has been prizewinner of the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, receiving prizes in the saxophone solo competitions in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

During his post-secondary education, Lui has become the student of Jennifer To, one of the most sought-after saxophonist in Hong Kong, and continue to pursuit his career as a professional musician.

Lui is an active participant in international saxophone events.  Lui was a participant in Hamamatsu International Wind Instrument Academy in 2015, and was given lectures by well-renowned saxophonists including Otis Murphy, Nobuya Sugawa and Jean-Yves Fourmeau. Lui has also been participating masterclasses in his academic years, including Vincent David, Timothy Mcallister, Kenneth Tse, Nathan Bogert, Martin Choy and world   leading saxophone quartet, Quatuor Habanera,

Lui has been an active member of Hong Kong Youth Wind Philharmonia since 2010. After graduating from his secondary school, Lui has joined Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia and participated performances in Hong Kong, Macau and Thailand. Lui has also participated in studio recording in Thailand along with Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia in 2017 and 2018. During his university studies, Lui had join HKBU Symphony Orchestra and HKBU Wind Symphony, he had also taken part in chamber performances, namely Horizon in 2014 and 2015.
